The goal of Estate Planning is to ensure that your wishes are followed upon your death, and to arrange your affairs in such a way as to make the administration of your estate as simple as possible and to minimize the costs associated with Probate and reducing tax consequences if possible.

As part of our consultation on planning your estate, we will also discuss with you the advisability of appointing a Power of Attorney to help you administer your affairs if you are incapacitated and are unable to take care of your personal and business affairs.  The third aspect of Estate Planning is the Advance Health Care Directive, or "Living Will" as it is often referred to.  The Advance Health Care Directive, is simply a written statement of what your wishes are with respect to your health care, in the event that you cannot state those wishes at the time that treatment is required.  You appoint a Proxy who is a relative or close friend that you trust and who is willing and available to consult with doctors as to your treatment, if you cannot make those decisions for yourself.

What to expect in your first meeting

In order to provide the best estate planning service, we need to know about all of the propety that you will need to deal with in your will.  You should prepare lists of all of your property, including investments, GIC's, RRSP's, RRIF's, etc.; bank accounts, real estate holdings, any items of personal property of significant value, vehicles, etc. The information should include the name of the investment broker company you work with, your bank branch and address,

Please contact us for your confidential consultation on your personal Estate Plan, and your peace of mind.
